About The Summit
Infertility is a growing health concern for Indian couples. According to a report, India is home to 28 million couples with fertility issues however the data may vary as owing to societal and emotional issues couples are hesitant to talk about the problem openly. Infertility is the inability to conceive by natural means, and is a medical condition with high prevalence affecting nearly 10 to 15% of married couples in India. There are many existing challenges and barriers in addressing infertility in India. While infertility is mostly caused by biological and environmental factors, the stigma around the condition especially for women makes it all the more difficult to seek medical advice. These attitudinal blockades further complicate the situation for both the partners.
Hence, it is important to create awareness on the issue and normalize the concept so that people are open to seeking medical advice and are comfortable about discussing the issue and relevant concepts associated with it. Apart from creating awareness on the issue, the 5th Edition of summit will engage major stakeholders from policy makers to medical professionals, from legal experts to insurance specialists to deliberate and discuss on the various aspects of IVF and also the challenges and prospects of infertility treatment in India.
