Dr. Asutosh Padhi is an accomplished public health physician, implementation strategist, and healthcare systems leader currently serving as National Program Manager at Jhpiego India, the global health affiliate of Johns Hopkins University. With over two decades of experience spanning clinical medicine, public health program management, health systems strengthening, quality assurance, and non-communicable disease control, he has built an outstanding career dedicated to translating evidence-based healthcare interventions into scalable public health impact. His professional mission is centered on strengthening health systems, expanding preventive care, and ensuring that life-saving screening, diagnosis, and treatment services reach underserved communities across India.

At Jhpiego, Dr. Padhi leads national-level strategic programs focused on cancer prevention, cervical cancer screening, health systems strengthening, quality improvement, and community-based healthcare delivery. Under his leadership, Jhpiego has partnered with multiple state governments to implement innovative screening models, capacity-building programs, and decentralized diagnostic pathways, particularly in women’s health and oncology. He has played a key role in landmark initiatives such as HPV self-sampling for cervical cancer screening in Sikkim, a pioneering public health intervention that has positioned the state as a national model in preventive cancer care. His contributions were formally recognized by the Government of Sikkim in 2026 during the release of the state’s white paper on HPV self-sampling.

A medical graduate from MKCG Medical College, Berhampur, Dr. Padhi combines strong clinical foundations with deep expertise in healthcare quality, implementation science, and public health leadership. Prior to his national role, he served in state leadership capacities within Jhpiego, where he led quality assurance and systems strengthening initiatives across multiple health programs. His technical expertise has also been recognized by the National Health Systems Resource Centre, where he was empaneled as an internal assessor under India’s National Quality Assurance Standards framework.

A respected speaker and thought leader in cancer control and public health innovation, Dr. Padhi has represented India at global platforms including the World Cancer Congress, where he presented on decentralized breast cancer diagnosis and health system innovation in low- and middle-income settings.
