Anuradha Acharya is one of India’s most pioneering genomics entrepreneurs and currently serves as the founder and CEO of Mapmygenome, a leading personal genomics and molecular diagnostics company that has played a transformative role in bringing preventive, predictive, and personalized healthcare into the Indian mainstream. Widely recognized as a visionary at the intersection of biotechnology, healthcare innovation, and data science, she has been instrumental in democratizing access to genomics-based health insights for millions.
An IIT Kharagpur alumna with postgraduate degrees in physics and management information systems from the University of Illinois at Chicago, Acharya combines scientific rigor with entrepreneurial foresight. Her career began in the technology and information systems domain before she identified the immense future potential of genomics during the early stages of the global Human Genome Project. In 2000, she founded Ocimum Biosolutions, one of India’s earliest genomics and bioinformatics companies, which she successfully scaled into a globally recognized genomics research and diagnostics enterprise through strategic acquisitions, product innovation, and international expansion.
Building on this success, she launched Mapmygenome in 2013 with a mission to shift healthcare from reactive treatment to preventive wellness through DNA-based insights. Under her leadership, Mapmygenome introduced India to consumer genomics through offerings such as Genomepatri, pharmacogenomics, and personalized health risk assessments, enabling individuals to better understand disease predispositions, nutrition, fitness, and medication responses. Her vision of “touching 100 million lives through genomics” has positioned the company as a pioneer in personalized medicine and health-tech innovation.
Beyond entrepreneurship, Acharya is an influential thought leader in biotechnology policy and innovation. She has served on prestigious boards and advisory councils, including the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics, and the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Genetics. Her contributions have helped shape India’s biotechnology ecosystem while promoting ethical and scalable applications of genomics.
Her achievements have earned her numerous accolades, including recognition as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum, Forbes W-Power Trailblazer, ET Startup Awards honoree, and multiple biotech entrepreneurship awards.
Through her groundbreaking work, Anuradha Acharya continues to redefine the future of healthcare by integrating genomics, machine learning, and preventive medicine—positioning India as a significant player in the global personalized healthcare revolution.
