Healthcare Sector Skill Council
Ashish Jain is the Chief Executive Officer of Healthcare Sector Skill Council (HSSC), the national body mandated to develop a skilled, certified workforce across India’s healthcare industry
With a postgraduate diploma in business management (MBA, 1994–1996), Ashish Jain has over two decades of experience working closely with government, industry, academic institutions, standards bodies, and international stakeholders—blending policy insight, institutional knowledge, and industry requirements into a unified skilling strategy for India’s healthcare workforce.
Since assuming leadership at HSSC, he has championed a vision centered around building a robust “skills ecosystem” for allied health professionals, technicians, paramedics, support staff, and AYUSH practitioners—bridging wide gaps in manpower, training quality, and employability across public and private healthcare sectors.
Under his direction, HSSC has collaborated with major stakeholders—regulators, hospitals, device manufacturers, academic and training institutions—to develop National Occupational Standards, training curricula, certification and assessment frameworks, apprenticeships, and placement linkages. This helps ensure that certified individuals have competencies aligned with industry requirements and improves workforce readiness in areas like diagnostics, sterilization services, nursing support, emergency care, AYUSH roles, and more.
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Ashish Jain led HSSC’s rapid pivot to online learning and certificate-based training modules—enabling a renewed drive for “fresh skilling, upskilling, and reskilling” to address critical shortages of trained frontline workers and supporting the nation’s emergency response efforts.
More recently, HSSC under his stewardship signed a landmark MoU with the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals & Healthcare Providers (NABH) to ensure that HSSC-certified personnel are recognized in NABH-accredited healthcare organizations—an important step to tie certification with quality compliance and standardized patient care across India.
Ashish Jain’s steady leadership—combining policy-oriented vision with hands-on execution—has been instrumental in converting HSSC into a key instrument of India’s “Skill India” mission for healthcare. Through capacity building, certification frameworks, industry linkages, and commitment to quality standards, he is shaping a workforce infrastructure that seeks to raise the scale, quality, and trustworthiness of allied-health services nationwide.
