Ashok Sharma received a PhD in cancer biology at the Department of Biochemistry at the All India Institutes of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, in 2009. In 2009, he joined the Vanderbilt Medical Center, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, TN, USA, as a postdoctoral fellow and worked on tight junction proteins (claudins) and their role in the regulation of cell migration and epithelial-mesenchymal transition (EMT). In 2012, he joined the group of Adam R. Karpf at Eppley Institute, UNMC, as a senior postdoc and worked on cancer-testis/germline antigen POTE, epigenetic mechanisms of regulation, and biomarkers. He is the recipient of the “DBT-Ramalingaswami Fellowship” and “DST-Ramanujan Fellowship” awards from the Govt. of India.
