He serves as Assistant Professor in the Department of Radiation Oncology at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Delhi, where he combines clinical expertise with public health advocacy to address cancer care challenges across diverse population settings. His professional journey in oncology spans roles as a resident, research fellow, and faculty member, reflecting deep engagement with both patient-centered care and scholarly research.

Dr. Shankar’s contributions extend well beyond clinical practice. He is internationally trained in cancer control and prevention, having completed the prestigious Cancer Prevention Fellowship at the U.S. National Cancer Institute, and has received global recognition, including the International Mentorship Award from the International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC).
