Dr. Ashok Kumar Vaid, a Padma Shri awardee and distinguished medical oncologist, is renowned for establishing one of North India’s largest private sector stem cell transplant programs. With a doctorate in medical oncology from The Tamil Nadu Dr. MGR Medical University in 1993, he currently serves as chairman of the Medanta Cancer Institute at Medanta-The Medicity in Gurugram. With over 32 years of clinical expertise, Dr. Vaid specializes in cancer genomics, immunotherapy guidance, precision onco-therapeutics, dendritic cell therapy, and stem cell transplants. A prolific researcher, he has authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and has served as principal investigator in over 60 national and international studies. He is also a registered postgraduate teacher with the National Board of Examinations and an examiner for super-specialty medical oncology courses. His previous affiliations include AIIMS New Delhi, Government Medical College Jammu, Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute, and Artemis Health Institute. Dr. Vaid’s accolades include the 2009 Padma Shri and the 2023 Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology.
