Dr. Bhupendra K. Rana is a distinguished global expert in healthcare quality, accreditation, and patient safety and serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Quality & Accreditation Institute (QAI), India—one of the country’s leading organizations dedicated to advancing healthcare standards, accreditation systems, and quality improvement frameworks.

As the founding CEO of QAI, Dr. Rana has been instrumental in building one of India’s most credible accreditation and quality-assurance institutions, working closely with hospitals, laboratories, and healthcare providers to strengthen compliance with international standards and improve patient safety outcomes. His leadership has positioned QAI as a key player in healthcare accreditation, training, and quality benchmarking across India and emerging markets.

With deep expertise in standardization and accreditation systems, Dr. Rana has contributed to the development and implementation of globally recognized frameworks, including ISO/IEC 17011, ISO 15189, and ISO/IEC 17025, as well as external quality assurance programs and accreditation models for healthcare providers. He is widely regarded as one of India’s earliest experts in laboratory accreditation and healthcare quality systems.

His influence extends to the global stage, where he has held key leadership roles with the International Society for Quality in Health Care (ISQua), serving as Vice-Chairman and later Chairman of its Accreditation Council and as a Board Director.
