Dr. Chandrashekara S is a leading rheumatologist, clinician-scientist, and healthcare entrepreneur who serves as the Medical Director of ChanRe Rheumatology & Immunology Center & Research (CRICR) in Bengaluru and is a former President of the Indian Rheumatology Association (IRA). Widely regarded as a pioneer in clinical immunology and rheumatology in India, he has played a pivotal role in advancing specialised care, research, and education in autoimmune and musculoskeletal diseases.

With advanced medical training that includes an MD in Medicine, DNB, and DM in Clinical Immunology & Rheumatology from SGPGI, Lucknow, Dr. Chandrashekara has built deep expertise in diagnosing and managing complex autoimmune conditions such as rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, spondyloarthritis, and connective tissue disorders. His early career included serving as an Assistant Professor at M.S. Ramaiah Medical College, where he was instrumental in establishing the department of immunology and rheumatology.

In 2002, he founded ChanRe Rheumatology & Immunology Center & Research, one of India’s first dedicated super-specialty centres for rheumatologic and immunological diseases. Under his leadership, the institute has evolved into a comprehensive centre for patient care, clinical research, diagnostics, and academic training, contributing significantly to the development of rheumatology as a recognised specialty in India.

Dr. Chandrashekara is also an active researcher and academician, with numerous publications in peer-reviewed international journals covering areas such as autoimmune diseases, immunology, and comorbidities in rheumatic conditions. His work spans clinical trials, translational research, and epidemiological studies that have contributed to improving disease understanding and treatment strategies.

As a former President of the Indian Rheumatology Association, he has contributed to strengthening professional collaboration, advancing clinical standards, and promoting education and awareness in rheumatology across India. He is also actively involved in continuing medical education, workshops, and training programs aimed at building capacity among healthcare professionals.
