Dr. Dinesh Pendharkar is a distinguished medical oncologist and director of the Sarvodaya Cancer Institute at Sarvodaya Hospital, Faridabad, with over three decades of experience in advancing comprehensive cancer care, precision oncology, and bone marrow transplantation in India and internationally. Widely respected for his clinical expertise and visionary leadership, he has played a transformative role in strengthening oncology services across institutions and has consistently worked to make high-quality cancer care accessible to patients across urban and peripheral regions. His professional mission centers on capacity building, empowering district hospitals, and enhancing integrated cancer treatment models through innovation, education, and collaborative partnerships with governments and healthcare systems.
An accomplished academic and clinician, Dr. Pendharkar received his advanced oncology training and Ph.D. from the Academy of Medical Sciences in Moscow and began his oncology career at Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, where he contributed to early bone marrow transplant programs in India. Over the years, he has held leadership roles in leading institutions including Batra Hospital, Asian Cancer Institute, and AIIMS New Delhi, while also serving as a visiting professor and international advisor to academic and clinical programs across Asia, Africa, and Europe. His research contributions include innovations in chemotherapy management and hand-foot syndrome care, alongside pioneering work in cellular therapy and hematologic malignancies.
Dr. Pendharkar’s influence extends beyond clinical practice into global oncology leadership and professional advocacy. He is a Fellow of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and has served as Past President of the Indian Society of Oncology and the Indian Society of Medical and Pediatric Oncology, as well as Chair of ASCO’s International Affairs Committee. His achievements have earned major recognitions, including the Times Now ET Edge “Inspiring Oncologist of India” Award and international honors from ASCO for his contributions to cancer care. Through mentorship, policy engagement, and academic leadership, he continues to drive innovation, strengthen cancer systems, and champion patient-centric oncology in India and beyond.
