Dr. Hemant Malhotra is a distinguished medical oncologist and institutional leader whose clinical acumen, research contributions, and academic stewardship have shaped cancer care in North India for more than three decades. He currently serves as Director – Oncology Services and Professor & Head of the Department of Medical Oncology at Sri Ram Cancer & Super-Speciality Center, Mahatma Gandhi Medical College & Hospital (MGMCH), Jaipur, one of the region’s leading tertiary cancer care institutions offering comprehensive diagnostic, therapeutic, and research-driven oncology services.

Dr. Malhotra’s foundational training in medicine and oncology has been complemented by prestigious fellowships at the Tata Memorial Cancer Centre (Mumbai) and advanced clinical exposure at Cornell Medical Center and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, equipping him with global perspectives on cancer therapeutics and clinical research. In 1991, he pioneered the establishment of the Medical Oncology division at SMS Medical College, Jaipur — the first of its kind in Rajasthan — and later led the creation of the state’s first Bone Marrow Transplantation Unit, achieving the first autologous transplant in the state.

A prolific academic and researcher, Dr. Malhotra has authored over 300 national and international publications and presentations and has been Principal Investigator for more than 40 pivotal clinical trials, with particular focus on hematological malignancies such as Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. He has served in leadership roles within major professional bodies, including as President of the Indian Society of Medical & Pediatric Oncology and President of the Immuno-Oncology Society of India, and contributes to national oncology policy through advisory committees of the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) and the CDSCO.

Dr. Malhotra’s distinguished career also includes recognition with international honours — notably the International Chronic Myeloid Leukemia Prize — and invitations to lead scientific sessions at major global forums such as the American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting. Under his leadership, the oncology department at MGMCH continues to expand multidisciplinary cancer care, integrate cutting-edge therapies, and mentor the next generation of oncology specialists.
