Dr. Jagmeet Madan is a highly respected nutrition scientist, educator, and thought leader in food, nutrition, and dietetics, currently serving as principal and professor in the Department of Food, Nutrition & Dietetics at Sir Vithaldas Thackersey College of Home Science (Empowered Autonomous Status), SNDT Women’s University, Mumbai. With academic qualifications including an MSc, MPhil, and PhD in Food and Nutrition, she combines deep scientific expertise with more than three decades of experience in nutrition research, teaching, public health, and academic leadership.

Dr. Madan’s career reflects a sustained commitment to advancing nutrition science in both academic and real‑world contexts. As an eminent nutritionist and a gold medallist, she has led major research initiatives, guiding national and international studies on diet‑related health outcomes, metabolic disorders, public nutrition interventions, and community‑based dietary patterns. She has authored more than fifty peer‑reviewed publications in leading international and national journals and books, underscoring her influence as a researcher and thought leader.

Her leadership extends beyond the classroom. Dr. Madan served as National President of the Indian Dietetic Association, representing the voice of nutrition professionals across the country, and has held key roles with the Asian Federation of Dietetic Associations and the International Confederation of Dietetic Associations, helping shape global professional standards and collaboration in dietetics. She has also contributed expert guidance to regulatory bodies such as the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI), particularly on scientific panels addressing food labelling, claims, and front‑of‑pack nutrition labelling, reflecting her commitment to evidence‑based policy and consumer protection.

Dr. Madan’s work has earned numerous recognitions, including the Young Scientist Award and the Dr. Ramanathan Award from the Nutrition Society of India, as well as prestigious international research grants from organizations such as the American Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
