Women Wellness for Women Empowerment Foundation

Dr. Meera Agnihotri is a distinguished Indian medical professional whose life’s work has fused clinical excellence with deep commitment to women’s health and empowerment. With an academic foundation rooted in medicine—earning her MBBS, MS, DGO, MAMS, and multiple fellowships, including FICOG, FICS, and FICMCH—she has established herself as a leading obstetrician-gynecologist and educator. Her journey began with securing a merit scholarship at the prestigious King George Medical University in Lucknow, where she excelled in both graduation and post-graduation and was awarded multiple gold and silver medals for academic excellence.

Dr. Agnihotri’s professional career spans more than five decades, during which she rose through academic and clinical ranks from lecturer to professor and head of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology at GSVM Medical College in Kanpur. She has served in key roles, including chairman of the Research and Ethics Committee and adviser to the Women’s Health Cell of the National AIDS Control Organisation under the Ministry of Health, Government of India.

Beyond her clinical practice, Dr. Agnihotri is the president of the Women’s Wellness for Women Empowerment (WWW) Foundation, an organization she has passionately driven to address the spectrum of women’s health, wellness, and social empowerment. Under her stewardship, the Foundation organized WWWCON—an international conference on women’s health, wellness, and empowerment—inaugurated by the President of India and the Union Health Minister, assembling national and international experts to deliberate on holistic approaches to women’s wellbeing.

Her leadership extended to national and global platforms: she represented India as National Chairperson of the AIDS Committee at the 9th FIGO conference in Montreal, served as a visiting consultant in the U.S., and chaired major conferences and committees addressing obstetrics, reproductive health, and HIV/AIDS.

Dr. Agnihotri’s contributions have been recognized through numerous lifetime achievement awards, national honors, commendations from medical associations, and accolades such as the Corona Warrior Award, the FICCI FLO Award for Community Health Service, and multiple women empowerment awards.

Her philosophy—that “treating patients is her profession, teaching is her duty, and women’s empowerment is her passion”—reflects a career committed not only to medical excellence but also to societal impact, mentoring generations of clinicians and advancing the cause of women’s health and dignity across India.
