Dr. Milan Choksey
Medical – Rare Disorders (LSDs & Haemophilia) and Transplant, Senior Manager – South-East Asia and India,
Sanofi
Dr. Milan Choksey is a medical affairs and healthcare strategy professional at Sanofi, with expertise spanning rare disorders, including lysosomal storage disorders (LSDs) and haemophilia, as well as transplantation. His professional mission centres on improving patient outcomes by strengthening disease awareness, enabling earlier diagnosis, expanding access to innovative therapies and fostering collaboration among healthcare professionals, patients, policymakers and healthcare institutions. His work reflects a strong commitment to addressing the complex challenges faced by people living with rare diseases, particularly those who experience prolonged diagnostic journeys and barriers to accessing appropriate treatment.
At Sanofi, Dr. Choksey has been associated with the medical leadership of the company’s rare diseases portfolio in India. He has actively advocated the importance of recognising rare diseases early and equipping healthcare professionals with better tools to identify suspected cases. In May 2026, Sanofi launched AccelRare, an artificial intelligence-enabled pre-diagnostic platform designed to help healthcare professionals identify potential rare diseases through evidence-based differential diagnosis. Dr. Choksey highlighted its potential to help clinicians recognise conditions that might otherwise be mistaken for more common illnesses, thereby shortening the diagnostic journey and enabling timely intervention. His work also aligns with Sanofi’s longstanding commitment to people living with lysosomal storage disorders through its India Charitable Access Programme (InCAP), which provides treatment support to eligible patients.
Beyond rare diseases, Dr. Choksey has championed greater public awareness of organ donation and transplantation, emphasising the substantial gap between the need for donor organs and their availability in India. Through his professional engagement and advocacy, he has highlighted the importance of addressing misconceptions, encouraging informed conversations about organ donation and building stronger support systems for transplant patients. He has also participated in discussions on patient-centric healthcare, market access and equitable treatment pathways, bringing a perspective that connects medical expertise with the practical realities of healthcare delivery.
Dr. Choksey holds an MBBS degree and postgraduate training in health systems and hospital administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai. Combining clinical knowledge with healthcare management and medical affairs experience, he continues to advocate a patient-first approach in which scientific innovation is complemented by early diagnosis, accessible treatment and sustained support for patients and their families.
