Dr. Sanjeev Malhotra is a veteran technology leader and global champion of innovation serving as Chief Executive Officer of the MeitY-NASSCOM Centre of Excellence for IoT & AI, a strategic public-private initiative jointly supported by India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) and the National Association of Software and Service Companies (NASSCOM). In this role, he drives a national agenda to accelerate adoption of emerging technologies—particularly Internet of Things (IoT), Artificial Intelligence (AI), robotics, and connected systems—across industry sectors including healthcare, manufacturing, agriculture, and smart cities, enabling startups, enterprises, academia, and government to co-create scalable technology solutions with real-world impact.

Beginning his career in Silicon Valley as a designer on the Pentium processor, Sanjeev brings over three decades of deep expertise spanning product development, strategy, and global operations. He has led technology teams and established engineering and innovation centers for multinational corporations in the United States and India, including Intel and Qualcomm, where he contributed to product strategy, development, and scaling of core technologies. This breadth of experience underpins his leadership at the CoE, where he champions collaborative innovation that bridges industry creativity with market needs.

Mr. Malhotra holds an MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business and advanced technical degrees—an M.S. and a B.Tech—which equip him with a rare combination of strategic vision and engineering depth. Under his stewardship, the Centre of Excellence has evolved into a pivotal ecosystem enabler in India’s digital economy, catalyzing partnerships between startups and global players, nurturing next-generation technology talent, and advancing India’s leadership in AI and IoT.

He has actively promoted the application of AI and IoT to real-world challenges in health delivery and diagnostics, advocating the development of low-cost, portable healthcare solutions and skill-building programs aimed at making advanced technology accessible in underserved areas. Through collaborative initiatives with industry leaders and government bodies, Dr. Malhotra’s work reflects a mission to translate emerging technologies into meaningful solutions that drive economic growth, societal benefit, and technological self-reliance.
