I have 46 years of experience in public health in 30+ countries in Central and South Asia, Eastern and Southern Africa, Central Eastern Europe and in academics. I started as MO in Indian Army. Later I worked at PHCs in Haryana, urban slums in Delhi, and in UNICEF as health specialist at state and national level in India and moved to international positions as Chief of Health, Nutrition, Child Survival & Development and Senior Advisor in Iraq, Kenya, Uganda and Somalia and Regional Advisor for 22 countries in Central Asia, Central and Eastern Europe. This journey took me from deserts of Rajasthan to Masai villages in Kenya, post conflict areas of northern Uganda, war zone in Cambodia, domestic fish ponds in Bangladesh, firing lines in Iraq; militancy torn Somalia and former Soviet republics after collapse of communism and so on. I have conducted strategic program review, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of programs, capacity building of semi-literate village volunteers, health workers, program managers, senior faculty of medical, nursing and paramedic colleges, strategic planning and managing of health programs for UNICEF in many countries, teaching of undergraduate & post graduate medical, nursing and health management students. Since 2011, I am back to academics and have developed and facilitated courses for government officials and NGOs in leadership and strategic management for mid and senior level health officials and supervised research projects for reputed national and international organizations. My current interests are capacity building in leadership, public health analysis, strategic management team building for the corporate sector, UN and health institutions. I currently head a charitable organization, Three Domain Leadership Foundation, the organization is focused on building leadership skills.
