Dr. Shakti Kumar Gupta is a distinguished hospital administrator, academic leader, and healthcare strategist who has played a pivotal role in strengthening institutional healthcare governance and hospital systems in India. An alumnus of Government Medical College, Jammu, and the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, where he completed his Master’s in Hospital Administration, he began his career as an assistant surgeon in Jammu & Kashmir Health Services before transitioning into academic medicine and health systems leadership. Over the decades, he has emerged as a key architect of modern hospital administration in India, known for combining clinical insight with operational excellence and policy-driven transformation.

At AIIMS New Delhi, he served as a senior faculty member and later headed the Department of Hospital Administration, mentoring numerous postgraduate and doctoral scholars while leading more than a hundred research initiatives and publishing extensively in national and international journals. His work included spearheading WHO-supported projects on hospital governance, public–private partnerships, and electronic medical records and guiding the department to achieve ISO certification—a landmark achievement reflecting his commitment to quality and patient safety. He also contributed significantly to curriculum development, capacity-building programs, and national healthcare initiatives that strengthened emergency care systems and hospital management practices across the country.

As a medical superintendent within AIIMS and later as executive director and CEO of AIIMS Jammu, Dr. Gupta demonstrated visionary leadership by advancing patient-centric models, infrastructure expansion, and modern healthcare management frameworks. He has authored multiple books on hospital planning, disaster management, infection control, and healthcare operations, reflecting his dedication to knowledge dissemination and professional development.
