Dr. Shantanu Pathak is a technology-driven healthcare innovator and the founder & director of Doto Health Private Limited, the Pune-based company behind CareMother—a next-generation AI-enabled maternal and newborn health platform that is transforming pregnancy care in India and other emerging markets. With a personal mission to make quality maternal healthcare accessible and equitable, Dr. Pathak has combined his deep technical expertise and entrepreneurial spirit to build solutions that empower frontline providers and improve outcomes for mothers and infants.

Raised in the Vidarbha region of Maharashtra, Dr. Pathak’s early life experiences, including losing his father at a young age and witnessing the challenges of accessing basic healthcare, profoundly influenced his career direction. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in electronics & telecommunication engineering from the University of Mumbai, followed by a PhD in biomedical engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, where his research focused on applying technology to real-world healthcare problems and conducting field-relevant translational studies.

Before founding Doto Health (branded as CareMother) in 2022, he pursued early professional roles in telecommunications and ICT, including work in network planning and optimization as a technical manager in China and leadership of health-focused technology teams in India. These experiences equipped him with a strong understanding of technological design and implementation across complex settings.

Under his leadership, CareMother has developed an integrated suite of AI-powered tools—including connected fetal and labor monitoring systems, high-risk pregnancy-detection kits, and platforms for remote maternal-newborn care—that help clinicians make timely, data-driven decisions and expand quality care into low-resource and rural environments. The platform has been deployed in thousands of sites, reaching hundreds of thousands of pregnancies in India and multiple developing countries across Asia and Africa.

Dr. Pathak’s work has been recognized for its blend of social purpose and technical innovation, reflecting his commitment to building scalable healthcare solutions that reduce maternal and neonatal risk and catalyze lasting improvements in public health.
