A doctor by training, a man of many parts, and a healthcare entrepreneur with indefatigable energy and belief, Dr Shuchin Bajaj, as Founder‑Director, has been instrumental in the entire journey of UjalaCygnus from its inception and from its very first avatar as CygnusMedicare and AltiusHealthcare. Driven by a missionary zeal to provide equitable healthcare access, Dr Bajaj stepped out of the safety of a promising career as a doctor soon after completing his MD in internal medicine. He embarked on his entrepreneurial venture of trying to provide the highest quality of healthcare to all communities—regardless of their financial, social, or geographic status—urged on by personal stories of friends and family who bore the brunt of living in healthcare-dark zones of India. An alumnus of INSEAD, King’s College London, IIM Calcutta, Boston University, and PGIMS Rohtak, Dr Bajaj continues to serve the cause through Ujala Cygnus and through working across the healthcare ecosystem, revitalising it beyond the well-provided metro regions. He serves on the boards of several prominent national NGOs as Advisor-Health Programmes. He has also contributed significantly to the Healthcare Track of Xynteo’s India2022 coalition and participated in HelpAge International’s Regional Research Initiative on Older People’s Health, where he acted as the Academic Partner of the International Health Working Group. Dr Bajaj is also an avid healthcare investor and is associated with multiple health tech companies as an investor, board member, and mentor. He also sits on the TBIU board of the Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer (FITT) at IIT Delhi.
