Dr. Sujata Malik is a distinguished healthcare leader, physician, and healthcare entrepreneur serving as Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of Sunburst Healthcare Pvt. Ltd., a technology-enabled home healthcare services provider. With more than four decades of experience spanning clinical medicine, hospital administration, quality management, and healthcare entrepreneurship, she has dedicated her career to strengthening healthcare delivery and making high-quality medical care more accessible, affordable, and patient-centric. Her professional mission is rooted in the conviction that healthcare should extend beyond hospital walls, enabling patients to receive professional medical attention, rehabilitation, and long-term support in the comfort and familiarity of their homes.

Dr. Malik began her professional journey in the Army Medical Corps, serving as a medical doctor for the first 15 years of her career before transitioning into hospital management. She subsequently held senior leadership positions at leading healthcare institutions, including Jehangir Hospital in Pune, Ruby Hall Clinic, and Sakra World Hospital, an Indo-Japanese healthcare venture. Over approximately 16 years in medical administration and hospital leadership, she developed expertise in hospital operations, strategic planning, business management, quality assurance, and accreditation. One of her notable achievements was leading the quality-improvement initiative that enabled Jehangir Hospital to become the first hospital in Pune to receive accreditation from the National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) in 2009. She later became a principal assessor with NABH and advised hospitals on quality systems and accreditation.

In 2017, Dr. Malik embarked on her entrepreneurial journey by founding Sunburst Healthcare, inspired by the gaps she recognized in organized, reliable, and quality-assured healthcare services at home. Under her leadership, the organization has developed a technology-enabled model offering services such as ICU care at home, nursing, physiotherapy, post-surgical recovery, stroke rehabilitation, palliative and end-of-life care, and support for patients with chronic illnesses. Through digital platforms for patients, caregivers, doctors, and administrators, she is working to make home healthcare more coordinated, convenient, and responsive to patients’ needs while helping families avoid unnecessary hospital stays and associated expenses.

Academically, Dr. Malik completed her postgraduate education in hospital management at the Symbiosis Institute of Health Sciences, Pune. Her contributions have earned recognition, including the Economic Times Award for Most Promising Women Leaders of 2022.
