With a strong foundation in pediatrics and medical genetics, Dr. Pal completed her MBBS from Chaudhary Charan Singh University, followed by postgraduate training in pediatrics and advanced specialization in medical genetics, including a DrNB in medical genetics from Sir Ganga Ram Hospital. Her interdisciplinary training enables her to bridge pediatric medicine with genomic diagnostics, helping clinicians identify and manage complex hereditary and rare diseases across both pediatric and adult populations.
At the Institute of Medical Genetics & Genomics, Dr. Pal is actively involved in the clinical evaluation, diagnosis, and genetic counseling of patients with inherited disorders, metabolic diseases, neurogenetic conditions, and fetal anomalies. Her clinical interests include neurogenetics, neuromuscular disorders, metabolic and neurodegenerative diseases, and prenatal diagnosis of congenital abnormalities. She also works extensively with advanced molecular diagnostic technologies such as next-generation sequencing and emerging genomic approaches that are transforming the detection and management of genetic diseases.
Dr. Pal contributes significantly to academic research and scientific literature in medical genetics. She has co-authored several research publications in peer-reviewed journals, including studies exploring the role of genomic sequencing in diagnosing critically ill children with suspected monogenic disorders and research addressing clinical challenges in rare genetic diseases. Her work also contributes to national guidelines and collaborative research efforts focused on genetic screening and reproductive genetics.
Beyond clinical and research responsibilities, Dr. Swasti Pal actively participates in academic forums, training programs, and interdisciplinary discussions that promote awareness of genetic medicine among healthcare professionals and the public.
