Dr. Vineet Talwar is a highly respected medical oncologist and academic leader currently serving as Director of the Department of Medical Oncology at the Rajiv Gandhi Cancer Institute and Research Centre (RGCIRC) in New Delhi, one of Asia’s premier comprehensive cancer care institutions. With a medical career spanning more than two decades, he is widely recognized for his clinical expertise, research contributions, and commitment to advancing cancer treatment and education.

After completing his DM in medical oncology from the Cancer Institute (Adyar), Chennai, in 2000, Dr. Talwar has been an integral part of RGCIRC’s oncology division since May 2000, progressing from consultant to director. He also holds qualifications including MBBS from the Armed Forces Medical College, Pune, DNB (General Medicine), and fellowships such as FRCP (Royal College of Physicians, Edinburgh), FICP, and FIMSA, reflecting broad academic and clinical accomplishments.

Dr. Talwar has authored over 140 peer-reviewed publications in national and international journals and actively participates in clinical research trials aimed at improving therapeutic outcomes across cancer types. His areas of specialty include breast, gastrointestinal, genitourinary, and hepato-pancreato-biliary oncology, where his work integrates state-of-the-art protocols with personalized patient care.

He is a member of prestigious professional bodies such as the European Society for Medical Oncology (ESMO) and the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) and has been honored with multiple orations and distinctions, including the Chikitsa Ratan Award for his contributions to oncology.

In addition to his clinical responsibilities, Dr. Talwar serves on national scientific advisory committees, mentors oncology trainees, and plays an active role in cancer education and outreach programs—demonstrating a sustained commitment to advancing cancer care, research, and policy in India.
