Dr. Gopinath Mamballikalam is a healthcare operations leader and medical physics expert serving as Chief Operating Officer of Aster MIMS Hospital, Calicut (Kozhikode), where he brings together clinical expertise, operational management, and strategic leadership to strengthen healthcare delivery. With more than two decades of professional experience across India and the Middle East, he has built a distinctive career spanning medical physics, radiation safety, clinical administration, and hospital operations. His professional journey reflects a commitment to improving hospital efficiency, strengthening patient safety, advancing quality standards, and creating healthcare environments that combine technological excellence with compassionate, patient-centered care.

Dr. Mamballikalam began his career as a medical physicist and radiation safety officer, working with institutions including the Bangalore Institute of Oncology, Artemis Health Institute, and Aster Medcity, Kochi. His experience in radiotherapy, nuclear medicine, equipment commissioning, and radiation safety provided a strong technical foundation for his transition into hospital management. At Aster Medcity, he subsequently progressed through senior management positions, including Senior Manager – Operations, Assistant General Manager – Operations, and Head of Operations, gaining extensive experience in clinical service delivery, operational planning, regulatory compliance, and multidisciplinary coordination. He later served as clinical administrator at Hamad Medical Corporation in Doha, Qatar, and as chief operating officer of Mar Sleeva Medicity, Palai, before taking charge at Aster MIMS Calicut in May 2026.

His academic background combines scientific expertise with advanced management education. He holds a PhD in Medical Physics from Bharathiar University and an MSc in Radiation Physics from the University of Calicut, alongside an Executive Postgraduate Diploma in Hospital Administration from the Tata Institute of Social Sciences and a Postgraduate Diploma in Management from IGNOU. He has also pursued executive education in health economics, management, and policy at the London School of Economics and Political Science.

His professional contributions have received recognition through the CAHOCON Best Platform Presentation Award in 2022 and 2024, the QualTech Award finalist recognition in 2023, and the Taqi Binesh Prize for Best Presentation at the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics in 2012.
