Joy Chakraborty is a seasoned healthcare leader and the Chief Operating Officer of P. D. Hinduja National Hospital and Medical Research Centre, one of India’s most respected multi‑specialty tertiary care institutions based in Mumbai. With more than two decades of experience in healthcare management, he has been instrumental in advancing operational excellence, quality improvement, and strategic growth across one of the country’s leading private hospitals.

Joy Chakraborty began his career in healthcare at Sri Ramachandra Medical Centre in Chennai, where over nine years he managed hospital operations and administration, helped develop healthcare management academic programs, and served as visiting faculty for nursing and allied health sciences—demonstrating early on his commitment to building capacity in the sector. He holds a postgraduate qualification in healthcare management, complemented by executive education in managing healthcare delivery from Harvard Business School and advanced finance training from IIM Ahmedabad, equipping him with a blend of clinical insight and strategic management acumen.

Since joining Hinduja Hospital in 2007 as Deputy Director—Administration, Chakraborty has held increasingly senior roles, including Director—Administration and Senior Director—Operations, before assuming his current position as COO. In this capacity, he oversees the hospital’s entire operational framework, driving system‑oriented processes, enhancing patient‑centric service delivery, and ensuring optimal utilization of resources and infrastructure.
