I am Anil Matai, Director General of the Organisation of Pharmaceutical Producers of India (OPPI). With more than three decades of experience in the pharmaceutical and healthcare sector, I have had the privilege of leading multinational companies, Indian organizations, and private equity–backed enterprises. My career journey includes leadership roles such as Managing Director of Zydus Healthcare Ltd, Senior Advisor at IQVIA Consulting & Information Services, and Operating Partner at Jashvik Capital, a healthcare- and consumer-focused private equity fund. I have also served on the boards of several leading pharmaceutical companies. Over the years, I have specialized in operations leadership, strategy, and change management, with a strong focus on improving profitability, building sustainable systems, and driving organizational growth. I am passionate about strengthening India’s pharmaceutical industry, not only as a global supplier of high-quality generics but also as an innovation-driven partner in healthcare. At OPPI, my vision is to work closely with stakeholders — industry leaders, policymakers, regulators, and healthcare professionals — to ensure patient access, affordability, and innovation. I firmly believe that ethical practices, transparency, and collaboration are the foundations of a strong and trusted pharmaceutical ecosystem. In addition, I have completed senior executive programs at Harvard Business School (USA) and IMD (Switzerland), which have further strengthened my global outlook on leadership and governance
