Prof. Dr. Kazem Rahimi is a globally respected physician-scientist and health systems innovator whose work bridges clinical medicine, population health, and data-driven healthcare transformation. Serving as Deputy Director at The George Institute for Global Health in the United Kingdom and Professor of Cardiovascular Medicine and Population Health at the University of Oxford, he has built an international reputation for advancing evidence-based approaches to chronic disease prevention, health informatics, and equitable health system delivery. A consultant cardiologist with Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, his research spans hypertension, heart failure, multimorbidity, and preventive cardiovascular medicine, with a strong emphasis on leveraging digital health technologies, machine learning, and large-scale clinical trials to improve outcomes at scale.

Prof. Rahimi leads major global collaborations such as the Blood Pressure Lowering Treatment Trialists’ Collaboration and heads the Deep Medicine program, focusing on transforming electronic health data into actionable insights for clinical decision-making. His leadership at The George Institute has included driving the Essential Healthcare Program, which develops practical, affordable solutions for emerging economies and vulnerable populations worldwide.

He trained in medicine at the University of Leipzig, followed by postgraduate specialization in cardiology and health services research across Leipzig, London, and Oxford. Over the years, he has served as an advisor to international health organizations, including the World Health Organization; contributed to global clinical guidelines; and held editorial and advisory roles across leading scientific platforms.
