Prof. Kharbanda is Professor Emeritus and former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Health Sciences at Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences (RUAS), Bangalore. With a strong focus on holistic and quality cleft care, he currently serves as Medical Advisor to ABMSS SMILE, a leading cleft charity.

He previously served as Chief of the Centre for Dental Education and Research and Head of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Deformities at AIIMS, New Delhi. Before joining RUAS, he held the prestigious Dr. CG Pandit National Chair awarded by the Indian Council of Medical Research.

Prof. Kharbanda has led several national initiatives. He directed the WHO Collaborating Centre on Oral Health, headed the KL Wig Centre for Medical Education Technology and Innovation, and successfully guided the Government of India’s National Oral Health Programme. He also conceptualised and established India’s first dedicated national dental research facility.
