Professor Vivekanand Jha is a globally respected nephrologist, public health leader, and academic whose work has significantly advanced kidney health research and policy worldwide. As Executive Director of The George Institute for Global Health, India, and a former President of the International Society of Nephrology, he has been at the forefront of driving global collaboration to address the growing burden of chronic kidney disease and non-communicable diseases. His leadership reflects a deep commitment to improving health systems, expanding equitable access to care, and developing scalable, sustainable prevention strategies that address both clinical and societal challenges linked to kidney disease.

With extensive academic and research credentials—including an MBBS from Patna Medical College followed by MD and DM training at PGIMER Chandigarh—Professor Jha has built a distinguished international career spanning clinical medicine, academic leadership, and global health policy. He serves as Chair of Global Kidney Health at Imperial College London and has held professorial roles with leading global institutions, including the University of Oxford and UNSW Sydney.
