Legal Consultant
Shilpa Bhasin Mehra is a highly respected legal consultant and independent practitioner based in Dubai, known for her deep expertise in commercial, corporate, and cross-border legal advisory services, as well as her thought leadership in legal communication and writing. With over 30 years of experience in the UAE legal domain, she has held senior in-house legal advisory roles, worked with local law firms, and later established her own boutique consultancy practice, helping individuals and businesses navigate complex legal frameworks with practical, solutions-oriented guidance.
Born in New Delhi and educated at the Law Faculty, University of Delhi—where she graduated as a gold medalist—Shilpa began her legal career working in India under the mentorship of one of the country’s most eminent jurists, Mr. K. K. Venugopal. After relocating to Dubai in 1993, she built extensive experience advising on corporate governance, commercial contracts, risk mitigation, entity formation, and multi-jurisdictional legal matters, earning a reputation for clarity, integrity, and client-centric legal counsel.
Beyond her legal practice, she is a prolific writer whose insights are widely read in legal circles. She is the author of All Battles Aren’t Legal, a powerful personal memoir and commentary on resilience borne from her own extraordinary journey of survival and recovery after a severe illness, and she regularly contributes to Lawyers Update and the Khaleej Times with columns that blend legal insight with practical wisdom.
Her professional excellence and intellectual influence were recognized when she was granted the UAE Golden Visa in the specialized talents category—an honor that reflects her sustained contribution to legal practice, literature, and thought leadership in the region.
Shilpa’s work embodies a rare fusion of legal acumen, strategic thinking, and personal resilience, making her a trusted advisor to executives, entrepreneurs, and organizations, while her writings and public engagements continue to inspire broader discourse on law, life, and leadership.
