Damodar Raja Narasimha is a veteran statesman, social justice advocate, and one of Telangana’s most respected political leaders, currently serving as Hon’ble Minister for Health, Medical & Family Welfare, and Science & Technology in the Government of Telangana. With a public service journey spanning over three decades, he has consistently championed inclusive governance, equitable healthcare, social empowerment, and institutional transformation. As a senior leader in the Indian National Congress and a trusted member of the Telangana cabinet led by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, he plays a pivotal role in shaping the state’s healthcare and innovation agenda while ensuring that quality public services reach every section of society. He officially assumed his current ministerial responsibilities in December 2023, representing the Andole constituency in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.

Born into a socially conscious family in Medak district, Damodar Raja Narasimha pursued engineering before entering public life, bringing a strong analytical and development-oriented approach to governance. His political journey began in 1989 when he was first elected as MLA, and over the years he has held several key ministerial responsibilities including Primary Education, Marketing, Higher Education, Agriculture, and later served as Deputy Chief Minister of undivided Andhra Pradesh between 2011 and 2014—becoming one of the most prominent Dalit leaders in the region. His leadership has consistently reflected a commitment to social inclusion, institutional strengthening, and public welfare.

As Telangana’s Health Minister, he has been driving transformative reforms focused on preventive healthcare, medical infrastructure expansion, workforce strengthening, and affordable access to quality treatment. Under his stewardship, the state has accelerated recruitment across the health department, expanded trauma and critical care networks, strengthened dialysis and cancer care access, and advanced the development of super-speciality hospitals and modern medical institutions across Telangana. He has also placed strong emphasis on non-communicable disease prevention, rural healthcare accessibility, emergency medical response, and integrating science and technology into public health delivery.
