Shri Nilambuj Sharan is currently working as Senior Economic Advisor, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE). He is an Indian Economic Service officer of the 1993 batch. He is in the rank of Additional Secretary to the Government of India.

During close to three decades as a member of the Indian Economic Service, he served in various capacities in the Government of India in the erstwhile Planning Commission and Ministries of Social Justice & Empowerment, Food and Public Distribution, and Health & Family Welfare.

Rich experience in labor and employment-related matters during a stint in the Planning Commission. In the Department of Food and Public Distribution, I dealt very closely with matters relating to food security, including the enactment of the National Food Security Act and its implementation.

As Senior Economic Adviser in the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, he is handling policy-related matters covering different aspects of skilling, such as the World Bank project SANKALP, access, affordability, quality & standards, industry alignment, new emerging jobs, green jobs, etc., as well as convergence between skilling and education.
