Vandana Gupta

Founder

V Care & Cancer Survivor

Vandana Gupta is a prominent cancer survivor, social entrepreneur, and patient advocate who serves as the Founder and Chairperson of V Care Foundation, a Mumbai-based non-profit organization dedicated to supporting cancer patients and their families. Her journey from patient to advocate has made her one of the most respected voices in India’s cancer support and survivorship movement, championing compassionate care and holistic patient support across the country.

Her advocacy work was born out of personal experience. In the early 1990s, Vandana Gupta was diagnosed with stage-III Hodgkin’s lymphoma, a life-altering experience that exposed her to the emotional, informational, and financial challenges faced by cancer patients and their families. During her treatment and recovery, she recognized that many patients lacked access to reliable information, counseling, and support systems. Determined to address this gap, she founded V Care Foundation in 1994 with a small group of volunteers to provide guidance, encouragement, and practical support to individuals navigating cancer treatment.

Under her leadership, V Care Foundation has evolved into one of India’s most active patient-support networks, working closely with major hospitals such as Tata Memorial Hospital in Mumbai. The organization provides a wide range of services, including patient counseling, financial and nutritional assistance, child-care support for young patients, educational outreach, and awareness initiatives designed to improve the quality of life for cancer patients and their caregivers. Over the years, the foundation has supported hundreds of thousands of patients through its volunteer-driven programs and community partnerships.

Beyond institutional work, Vandana Gupta has emerged as a powerful advocate for patient empowerment and survivorship. She frequently speaks at national and international forums on cancer awareness, the psychosocial dimensions of cancer care, and the importance of integrating emotional support into treatment pathways. She has also served on advisory and ethics committees of healthcare organizations and continues to work closely with clinicians, patient groups, and policymakers to strengthen patient-centric healthcare systems.

Through her unwavering dedication to advocacy and community service, Vandana Gupta has transformed her personal battle with cancer into a nationwide movement of hope, resilience, and solidarity—helping ensure that patients and families confronting cancer in India receive not only medical treatment but also the emotional strength and support needed to fight the disease with dignity.
