Vasundhara Raghavan is a prominent patient-advocacy leader and the Chief Executive Officer of the Kidney Warriors Foundation, a nationwide patient support and advocacy organization dedicated to improving the lives of people living with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in India. Through her leadership, the foundation has grown into one of the country’s largest kidney patient communities, connecting thousands of patients, caregivers, nephrologists, and healthcare stakeholders to strengthen awareness, support, and policy advocacy.

Raghavan’s journey into kidney-health advocacy began through deeply personal experience. In the 1990s, her son was diagnosed with severe kidney disease, undergoing dialysis and two kidney transplants—an experience that inspired her to dedicate her life to improving awareness, patient support systems, and healthcare access for kidney patients. This journey led her to write and co-author several books on living with kidney disease, including Shades of Life, Sublime Joy is in Living, and The Kidney Warriors, which highlight patient stories, challenges, and resilience.

Under her leadership, the Kidney Warriors Foundation has developed a strong national network of patient families and healthcare professionals, providing educational resources, emotional support, and advocacy for improved kidney-care policies. The organization also works closely with policymakers, clinicians, and research groups to amplify the voice of patients and improve treatment access, organ donation awareness, and dialysis support programs across India.

Beyond patient support, Raghavan actively contributes to national and international healthcare discussions. She has represented patient perspectives in advisory forums and policy initiatives related to dialysis programs and kidney-disease management in India. Her work focuses on strengthening patient-centered healthcare systems, promoting early prevention of kidney disease, and building community awareness around risk factors such as diabetes, hypertension, and unhealthy diets.
